Mr. Swarovski is the Chairman of the D. Swarovski & Co., and a senior member of the fourth generation of the Swarovski family business. The Swarovski Group, a family-owned business based in Austria, was founded in 1895 by Daniel Swarovski, Helmut's great-grandfather.
Today it is a household name around the world with a brand presence in 170 countries, employing 32,000 people and having an annual turnover of over USD4bn. The Swarovski Group includes the Swarovski Crystal Business, Tyrolit and Swarovski Opkit. The Crystal Business represents the largest area for the group and the most renown. It designs, manufactures and sells highest quality crystal, genuine gemstones, created stones, and finished products such as jewelry, accessories and lighting solutions. Tyrolit is one of the world's leading manufacturer of bonded grinding, cutting, sawing, drilling and dressing tools and a system supplier of tools and machines for the construction industry.
It has 27 production locations in 11 countries and on five continents, and employs over 4,000 people. Swarovski Optik, which was founded in 1947, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-precision long-range optical products for the highest quality standards and superior operating comfort and one of the world's leading suppliers of long-range optics for hunting, nature observation, and birding as well as travel and leisure.
Mr. Swarovski was named managing partner of the Group in 1978, a position he held for many years. Since 2009 he has been Chairman of D. Swarosvki & Co., whilst the executive management is held by members of the fifth generation, including his daughter Nadja.
He obtained a degree in Industrial Engineering in Munich, Germany, in 1967 and has received numerous decorations in recognition of his contribution to business and engineering.
